Napa Small Animal Hospital is in the heart of the Napa Valley wine region. Its downtown is known for late-1800s and early-1900s architecture, a riverfront promenade with shops and restaurants, and an arts scene anchored by the Napa Valley Opera House. The Oxbow Public Market houses a farmer's market and cheese shop, and the Napa Valley Wine Train visits area wineries via vintage Pullman cars. From hiking miles of trails and kayaking the Napa River, Napa is an ideal destination for families of all sizes and kids of all ages beyond wine tasting. Napa is a beautiful location for tourism, settling down, and growing up. It is filled with great attractions that spark joy and tranquility.
Established in 1989, our hospital honors the health and happiness of all pets and people, and it is our firm belief that you can’t put a price on doing the right thing. We provide top quality medical care to a diverse socio-economic community, and as a hospital we recognize that exceptional skills and excellent equipment can only go so far when clients don’t have the funds to pay for services. To help alleviate the ethical burden of turning away those in need due to financial constraints, each of our doctors, and our support staff collectively, receives a yearly charity stipend to use at their discretion for NSAH patients whose owners cannot afford care. If compassion, at root, means to respond fully to the needs of the moment, at NSAH we do everything we can to keep money from getting in the way of our team practicing medicine with integrity.
Indeed, as a full-service hospital of general veterinary medicine, we take great pride in the extensive range of services our doctors have to offer and are always excited to expand our ability to better serve our patients and clients. We have a truly terrific team of support staff and are well-equipped with advanced medical devices such as digital dental & standard radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house lab, & a paper lite operating system. We also have excellent working relationships with top specialty doctors and hospitals throughout the wider Bay Area, as well as the professors and doctors at the UC Davis VMTH.
Our compensation and benefit plans are generous, competitive, and commensurate with experience, including:
Production based OR salaried compensation options
Signing bonus
Relocation assistance
Medical, dental, and vision insurance with shared premiums
Practice-sponsored life insurance
401(k) eligibility with employer match
Child Care Participant
Annual continuing education stipend
Paid time-off for personal use and to attend CE
Sponsored Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with wellness initiatives
Training & Critical Incident Services
Paid AVMA PLIS policy coverage
Reimbursement of all licensure and DEA fees
Reimbursement of professional membership dues
Personal Pet Discounts
Our ideal candidate will have 2+ years of DVM experience but we will consider more recent graduates with the right attitude and interests. We are currently looking to fill 3-4 shifts per week, have the flexibility to consider FT or PT candidates, and can offer a set weekly schedule with no on-calls, ever! We are looking for someone to bond with us and our community, and we encourage applicants interested in growing into a leadership position. NSAH also strives to nurture doctors seeking to hone their skills in niche areas of veterinary care.
We would also like to emphasize that at NSAH, our commitment to caring extends to each other and we all work hard to maintain a positive atmosphere and to help one another go home feeling accomplished every day. We are a team that appreciates a good sense of humor as well as a professional attitude, and our management structure encourages healthy communication and collaboration both within and between departments.
