Under general supervision, patrols community streets and performs animal control functions for the city of Thornton. Patrols streets in marked, radio-equipped vehicle fitted with animal cages. Responds to calls for services such as nuisance and animal cruelty complaints. May handle injured or deceased wild animals. Transports animals to shelter. Catches, contains, and impounds animals-at-large including sick, injured, and vicious animals using specialized equipment, such as catch poles, leashes, asps, dart guns, cages, and traps. Cares for animals appropriately; performs euthanasia on sick or injured animals. Vaccinates animals. Picks up and disposes of dead animals.
