Leave the city with low income and high cost of living and move to a small town with a higher income, lower stress and low cost of living. I am looking for 2 or more Full-Time or Part-Time veterinarians for both our general practice day shift and our our after-hours Urgent and Emergency Care Center. We see only dogs and cats but will see exotics if we feel comfortable with the type of exotic. The general practice on the day shift is open 7 days a week and we see everything from Wellness to Emergencies. The after hour practice is primarily an Urgent Care practice seeing after hour sick patients. The development of an "urgent care" practice is new to our industry. Just like in human medicine, urgent care is designed to provide medicine to sick animals at a lower cost than emergency rooms. Our goal is to provide excellent medicine for all dogs and cats in our regular day practice and after other veterinary practice.
Day shift schedule is 8 hours a day with a 1 hour lunch from 7:30 am - 4 or 5 pm, schedule is a 3 week rotating shift so no one works more than 5 days in a row. 40 - 45 hours is the normal weekly schedule. We are looking for at least one FT veterinarian for this shift or a PT veterinarian/Relief veterinarian that will pick up shifts from 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday and every third weekend from 8am to 4pm. Schedules are flexible as a 3 week rotation.
The after hour Urgent Care FT veterinarian schedule is an 8 hour shift with lunch when possible. It is from 4pm until midnight Friday through Tuesday (closed Wednesday and Thursday). We would prefer a FT veterinarian for this shift but a PT or Relief veterinarian for 2 or more shifts a week would work. Patients are primarily urgent care patients with a few emergencies. Common conditions seen are skin disease, ear disease, Lyme disease, Parvo infections, endocrine diseases, reproductive problems, blocked cats, heart and lung diseases, cancer patients, vomiting, diarrhea, and other similar sick dogs and cats. Common trauma cases are lacerations, bite wounds, abscesses, warbles, pyometra, and occasional GI foreign bodies. Severe cases are stabilized then shipped to a 24 hour referral center in Akron. Surgeries are performed by attending urgent care veterinarian and sent home towards the end of the night if possible, transferred to a 24 hour service if necessary or kept overnight for recovery with video supervision. Patients are kept overnight only at the discretion of the attending urgent care veterinarian or shipped to a 24 hours facility.

About Adamson Veterinary Services
We are a progressive, growing, multi-doctor practice that believes in using education, skills, and modern technology to provide quality medicine for our patients while tailoring it to the client's needs and income. As a busy practice (day-practice and after hour urgent and emergency care practice) we provide medical care that combines general practice, urgent and emergency care. We don’t just provide routine care, but more advance care as well. We are really a new type of hybrid practice that provide routine services and sick/urgent care services that fall between a general practice and a specialty practice. In 2018 we opened an after hour Urgent Care and Emergent Care service, with emphasis on Urgent, open only 5 days a week (Friday - Tuesday) until midnight. The hospital is a large modern and fully equipped 9,000 sq ft medical facility that was designed to create a calm and fear free environment (a virtual tour is available on our website AdamsonVeterinaryServices.com). We are AAHA certified and have a full in-house lab, ultrasound, dental machines, digital x-ray machine electro-cautery unit, 2 large surgery suites, multiple full parameter monitors and anesthesia machines, is...olation room, portable oxygen cage, Snyder ICU machine, 2 ICU isolettes, with facility to house up to 34 sick patients. We have a large waiting room split into two sections to divide dogs and cats. The day general practice is open 7 days a week and the urgent care is open 5 days a week with the plan on eventually being open 7 days a week in the next 3 years. We do not have boarding facilities, the owner does not believe in housing sick and well patients together.
Community profile: Although Salem is a small town, it has a lot to recommend it. There are several large metropolitan areas (Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Pittsburg) within minutes of Salem. There are small manufacturing companies and smaller service companies providing jobs for the area residents. There are a lot of community activities for individuals as well as families. There is a country club with a golf course, a community center with gym facilities and pool, and several small local lakes for boating and fishing. Parks and hiking facilities are close by. The grade school and secondary schools are excellent for those individuals interested in them for children. Kent State community college has a branch just outside Salem for more advanced studies. Universities are close by. Cars and trucks are a big thing in our area and we have several community activities associated with them. Quaker Raceway is just outside town for the car enthusiast. Major sports arenas are within an hour. Major highways to all parts of the country within minutes of Salem. We may be a small community, but we have much to offer.
