Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital has three dedicated veterinarians, working with excellent support staff. Together they provide outstanding outpatient and inpatient care to our clients' pets. To help maintain our standard of care, the hospital has a state of the art inpatient laboratory facility and utilizes an out-hospital laboratory when needed. We also have digital radiography equipment for both dental and full-body X-rays to aid in patient diagnosis. To monitor surgical and critical patients, we utilize crucial equipment such as intravenous pressure infusion pumps, monitors for O2 levels, ECG, and blood pressure. We and telecommunications for ECGs or radiographic consultations. We also utilize the services of referral specialists and hospitals when needed.

This position is for an individual with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a receptionist. Work within veterinary medicine is not a requirement. A positive attitude, good communication skills, and an interest in veterinary care are a must. You will enjoy the challenge of a fast-paced, multitasking job, helping clients care for their best four-legged friends. Our receptionists represent the face of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital, being the first and last person a client meets. Being a receptionist is a challenging and rewarding position.
Receptionist responsibilities include providing top-notch customer service through:
Client skills: good communication skills both in-person and over the telephone; answer and triage phone calls from clients; attentiveness to client and pet need; client education; identify and work patiently and compassionately with clients in various emotional state.
Scheduling and appointment skills: schedule appointments and procedures; check-in and out clients and their pets; monitor schedule and flow; client follow-up and callbacks; process payment transactions.
Patient skills: Managing record requests between other hospitals and specialty practices; filling prescriptions and food requests; maintain proper documentation in the electronic medical record; relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and management; filing records and documents.
Basic computer skills: Comfortable using Windows-based computer systems; comfortable with word processing, email, and web search; interest in, and ability to effectively use the practice management software program; comfortable with communication via email and text.
Workspace: Maintaining the order and cleanliness of the reception area and waiting room space; making sure clients and pets are comfortable during their wait before and after their appointment.
Additionally, Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital staff pride themselves on their teamwork. All of our team assist and support their teammates in meeting the various demands of veterinary medicine. These demands can range from receptionist duties and veterinary nursing care to routine cleaning and kennel chores within the hospital. We are open Monday through Saturday, with no after-hours emergency call. There is a rotating weekend call requirement shared by all the staff.
