Herkimer Veterinary Associates is a progressive, growing, busy practice. This Doctor owned mixed animal practice has 5 veterinarians on staff who offer mentoring and support. We have a very friendly, motivated team who work well together to provide excellent patient care and client support. Our facility is well organized, attractive and comfortable.
We are seeking a qualified part-time or full-time mixed or small animal Associate DVM who wants to practice extraordinary medicine with all of the bells and whistles of in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental and surgical equipment. Our doctors see scheduled appointments, emergency appointments, and perform scheduled and emergency surgeries. We offer a rotating schedule that considers family time, personal interests, and quality of life.
Our ambulatory practice is primarily dairy with a growing equine component, as well as work with small ruminants. Our emphasis in the dairy work is preventative medicine, scheduled herd health visits and client education. Three well equipped work vehicles allow us to provide high quality large animal services.

Herkimer Veterinary Associates is located at the foothills of the Adirondacks in central New York just minutes away from Syracuse, Albany, Cooperstown or Saratoga Springs. Our great location also brings you within a few hours drive to popular destinations like Niagara Falls, New York City, Boston, and Montreal.
Our veterinary staff includes 2 owners, graduating from veterinary school in 1985 and 2005. We also employ 3 associate veterinarians who have been on staff for 2-8 years. The 5 veterinarians are committed to providing quality veterinary care to our community. We work well as a team, each bringing a different perspective and knowledge base. Consultation with coworkers is a normal part of our practice philosophy. Our staff is one of our greatest assets; they are competent, dedicated and supportive. There are 6 licensed veterinary technicians, and 2 veterinary assistants on staff as well as a practice manager with excellent organizational and people skills.
We have a fully equipped facility including an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, IM3 dental machine, and anesthesia monitoring equipment.
Herkimer is steeped in history and is home to rolling hill...s, winding rivers, and a diverse community. There are excellent outdoor recreational opportunities; including hiking, camping, skiing, fishing, kayaking and much more. The city of Utica, a city of 64,000 people with ample shopping and entertainment possibilities, is 15 miles from our practice. Syracuse and Albany are about a one hour drive from Herkimer. Our area enjoys a reasonable cost of living and a small town, friendly atmosphere.
